CtK Open Night:
Thank you, parents and families, for coming along to our annual school Open Night which was held last night. The school was buzzing as students showcased their work in classrooms. It was also a wonderful opportunity for our community to celebrate the great things we are doing at Christ the King. Thank you, families, for your continued support and to our amazing P&F for organising our sausage sizzle and the Lego exhibition! Huge thanks to our dedicated staff for their time and effort in preparing the classrooms and for always going above and beyond each day for the students in their care!
Athletics Carnival:
Our Athletics Carnival is on this Friday with what looks like good weather at this stage. Just a quick reminder to all families to make sure that your child’s clothing is all labelled with their name and that they have all their food, water and sunscreen supplies for the day. Parents are not permitted in the bays and lollies are not permitted.
We thank Ms McLinden for preparing our 2023 Athletics Carnival. Our Jumps and Throws day was a huge success. We thank our wonderful parent volunteers for all their support on the day and we look forward to a successful Athletics Carnival on Friday!
Dance Classes:
We warmly invite and encourage all parents and families to join in the fun (and bring your dancing shoes) during your child’s dance lesson next week. Please contact your child’s teacher for further information.
Visual Arts:
Some of our talented Year 5 and 6 students have participated in the Gwenyth Ewens Art Award Competition. They were asked to paint or draw a historical building located in the Fremantle area. Gwenyth Ewens (1916 – 1995) a trailblazing architect and proud Fremantle identity made a Request to the City of Fremantle in 1987 to promote the appreciation of Fremantle’s beautiful buildings through an art competition for local children. The inaugural competition took place in 1989 and has been running annually ever since.
All entries will be judged by a panel and two students from our school will be awarded prizes. The Awards Ceremony on the evening of the exhibition opening, Thursday September 21st with doors opening at 4.30 pm and the Awards Ceremony commencing at 5 pm, of which the winning entries will be announced. The evening will be hosted by historian, lecturer and broadcaster, Richard Offen. Two winners from each school will be announced and all the student submissions of paintings and pencil sketches will be on display. Students’ art will continue to be on display in the Fremantle Town Hall for public view from Friday 22 September to Sunday 8 October 10 am – 2 pm.
I encourage our school community to visit the exhibition during the school holidays and celebrate our student’s amazing artistic abilities. Parents, students and the school community are invited to attend the awards ceremony.

Student Spotlight:
We know that many students at Christ the King have amazing gifts and talents and achieve outstanding things outside of their life at our school. We would love to hear about all these achievements and have created a ‘Student Spotlight’ section in the Newsletter where you can share your stories with us. In order for us to share the news, we require as much detail as you can provide, so please email Mrs Reardon at: sabrina.reardon@cewa.edu.au
We can’t wait to hear and share your news!
New Enrolments for 2024:
We are currently undertaking enrolments for 2024. Please make sure that you let your family and friends know about our wonderful school community! We have places available from PreKindy-Year6.
Advertisement/flyer – Volunteers Needed for Distribution:
To promote our amazing school and encourage more enrolments, we are in need of volunteers to do a letter box drop of our new flyers in these suburbs; Hamilton Hill, Coolbellup, North Coogee, Coogee, Lake Coogee & South Fremantle.
This is a great opportunity for secondary students to volunteer their time for community service and a fun family activity whilst getting some exercise and volunteering your time.
Please see Mrs Urbano in the office if you are able to help and the suburb you would like to be allocated. Thank you!
Wishing you all a safe and relaxing holiday break!
