Week 4 Term 1 2025
Caritas Australia
To care deeply for the needs of another person or creature is an expression of our love for them. This tender concern is called ‘compassion’. We show compassion each year, through our efforts to raise funds for Project Compassion. The money raised supports people around the globe and here at home in Australia, to live with dignity and to make a true difference for themselves and their families.
Families will receive a Project Compassion box to support Caritas Australia this Lenten season and help support vulnerable people around the world, now and for all generations. With your support, Caritas Australia has been able to support vulnerable communities around the world to tackle poverty, food security, education, water and sanitation and disaster risk reduction. Project Compassion 2025, reminds us that the good that we do today will extend and impact the lives of generations to come to build better future for all. As St Pope John Paul II said, “The future starts today, not tomorrow.” Together, we can help vulnerable communities face their challenges today and build a better tomorrow for all future generations. Project Compassion boxes are due back at school before the end of Term One.
NAPLAN 2025
NAPLAN is a National Literacy and Numeracy assessment that students in Year 3, 5, 7 and 9 sit each year. NAPLAN Information for parents and caregivers went to students and parents/carers in Year 3 and 5 a few weeks ago. For more information about NAPLAN, please visit – https://nap.edu.au/ We encourage parents and caregivers to keep conversations about NAPLAN as relaxed and reassuring as possible to minimise any nervousness.
2025 Sacramental Commitment Masses
The Sacramental Commitment Masses for students preparing for the Sacraments of Reconciliation (Year Three), First Holy Communion (Year Four), and Confirmation (Year Six) will take place on the weekend of Saturday 15 March (6pm) and Sunday 16 March (10am) at Christ the King Church. During these Masses, children from Christ the King will join parishioners to publicly commit to preparing for their Sacraments in 2025. Sacramental Enrolment Forms will be available at the Parish over the weekend. If your child is enrolling in one of the above Sacraments this year, you must attend one of the Masses over this weekend. Please return all completed enrolment forms to your classroom teacher, as soon as possible. As the year progresses, the children will continue preparing for their Sacramental celebrations. Let us all keep them, their families and the staff guiding them in our prayers.
Absentees Reminder & School Attendance
A reminder that academic success and engagement are intricately linked with school attendance. We ask all parents and carers to set the expectation of daily attendance, establish good morning routines that ensure students arrive to school on time. Please ensure that any absence is communicated promptly to the school before 9am to ensure that your child is accounted for. Please do not to use Seesaw messenger to notify for attendance related communication. You can phone the school on 9487 9900, or log your child’s absence via our school website or email admin at admin@ctk.wa.edu.au
When a planned holiday or other period of absence falls during term time, parents must submit an Extended Absence Form (available from the office) prior to the absence. This must be approved by the Principal and is required for any absence of five days or longer.
Illness
Several children have been absent recently due to illness. We kindly ask parents to ensure that if their child is unwell or showing any symptoms, they stay home until they are fully recovered. Illnesses can be contagious and may spread not only within the classroom but throughout the entire school. We encourage all parents and carers to be mindful of this and consider keeping their child home for an extra day if necessary to help prevent further transmission.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Parents and caregivers will have the opportunity to meet with their child’s teacher on Wednesday 9 April (Week 10) from 12.30pm – 6pm. Parent Teacher interviews will be conducted across all year groups (K – 6) in ten-minute rotations. We respectfully ask that parents keep to the ten-minute limit, to ensure the afternoon runs smoothly and on time. Later in the term, you will receive instructions about booking in these meetings. Please note this date in your diary. Please be advised that our school will finish at 12pm on this day. If you cannot collect your child/ren at 12pm, they will be supervised at school, until 3pm by our staff.
Public Holiday & Pupil Free Day
A gentle reminder that there is a Public Holiday on Monday 3 March 2025 (Week 5). Tuesday 4 March 2025, is a Pupil Free Day, meaning there will be no school for our students. While the children enjoy an extended weekend, our staff will be at school participating in a First Aid Course.
Wishing you a lovely weekend!

Message from the P&F – Mrs Suraya Correia
Hello CtK and Welcome back!
Last week we had our annual community Evening on the Green and what fun it was! It was so wonderful to see so many Ctk families come along and grab a bite to eat from one of the delicious food trucks. A huge Thank you to Nat from Boogie Woogie for kicking off the night with an energetic performance which got the kids and adults up and dancing. A light drizzle of rain didn’t put a damper on the fun, with face painting, lawn games and the band keeping everyone entertained and spending quality time with each other. We look forward to next year and hope you all enjoyed it.
The State Elections are coming up on Saturday 8th March and our School will be open as a Polling Centre from 8am-6pm. The P&F will be holding a Sausage Sizzle and Bake Sale to help raise money for our new Nature Playground. The flyer can be found on the hub and we would love it if you could spread the word and tell your family and friends to come down and enjoy a yummy Democracy Sausage! If you can volunteer your help at any time throughout the day, please jump onto the hub to sign up. A message will go out next week to ask for donations of baked goods for us to sell on the day and a link to let us know what you will be baking/donating so we know what is so generously being given. The baked donations can be dropped off to the canteen on Friday 7th March 8:15-8:45am and 2:30-3pm.
Thank you for your support and we hope to sell out on the day to raise some money for our incredible School!
