Welcome to Week 2
It was a fantastic start to the term, with students settling smoothly back into their learning routines. The beautiful weather added to the positive atmosphere, and it was a pleasure reconnecting with students, parents and carers after the break. Thank you to our parents and families for supporting student success by ensuring your children arrive at school organised and on time!
Term Two Planning
This term, academic updates will include Term Overviews posted on Seesaw and a formal Mid-Year report. We have a variety of engaging learning experiences and events planned, including incursions, excursions, assemblies and carnivals. Additionally, students in Years 3, 4, and 6 will be receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation and First Communion (Eucharist), respectively.
School Procedures
This a gentle reminder that class begins for our students at the times listed below:
Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten:
Doors open at 8.30am and class begins at 8.40am
Pre-Primary to Year 6:
Doors open at 8.30am and class begins at 8.40am
For the safety and well-being of each individual child, no student should be on school grounds, unattended, before 8.10am (unless your child is participating in a co-curricular event). We have had several students who ride and get dropped to school arriving closer to 8am and school supervision does not begin in the quadrangle until 8.10 am. We appreciate your support with this and appreciate your understanding.
If your child arrives at school after 8.40am, please take your child to administration and sign in via the app on the iPad before going to class. This is also required if a child is collected during the day and then returned to school. If a child needs to be collected before 3pm (or 2.45pm for Kindergarten), please sign out via the app on the iPad in the office. If a child will not be attending school on any day, please contact the school prior to 9am on the day of the absence using one of the following methods listed below:
- Calling: 9487 9900 and leave a message on our absentee line
- Complete the quick link absentee form on our school website
When a planned holiday or other period of absence falls during term time, please submit an Extended Absence Form to the administration prior to the absence. This is required for any absence of five days or longer and must be approved by the school Principal.
Communication Guidelines at CtK
Parents and carers play a vital role in their children’s education, and a strong partnership between home and school enhances their learning journey. Clear communication is key to keeping our community informed about what’s happening at school. If you need to discuss anything related to your child, please always contact your child’s class or specialist teacher first. Teachers will always contact relevant parents directly regarding any school matters.
As mentioned last term, please remember that our teachers will not be responding to seesaw messages or emails after 4pm. Each teacher has set their “work hours” on seesaw to ensure consistency across the team. Unless it’s an urgent matter, please allow up to 48 hours for a response to emails and seesaw messages. Teachers are not expected to respond on weekends (Saturday or Sunday) or during school holidays. Part-time staff are not required to respond to any form of communication on their non-working days. It is important to note that we all have lives beyond school, and many of us are parents, family members, and friends. Just like other professionals, we need time to focus on those roles outside of work hours without interruptions.
We are very fortunate to have such a supportive group of parents and carers at CtK, and I’m confident that you will continue to assist our staff by keeping these factors in mind when reaching out to them.
Parking
Please remember to follow our school’s parking guidelines, particularly in the Early Childhood Education (ECE) car park. Parking is limited, especially during drop-off and pick-up, so your cooperation is essential for safety and smooth traffic flow. The ECE car park is for families with children in Pre-Kindy, Kindy, and Pre-Primary only. Families with children in Years 1-6 should use the Loop Car Park on Annie Street. If your child is independent, please drop them off at the Loop for their safety.
Ensure you know where your child will be picked up and communicate this clearly with them. Pre-Kindy and Kindy students finish at 2:45pm, while Pre-Primary to Year 6 are dismissed at 3pm. After pick-up, please supervise your child as playing or riding bikes on school grounds is not allowed.
Parking is available in the ECE, Learning Centre, and Loop car parks. Parking on Annie and Caldwell Streets is public. The ECE car park requires a permit, and ACROD bays are reserved for permit holders. If someone else is picking up or dropping off your child, ensure they are aware of the parking rules and have the proper permit on display.
We kindly ask all parents and carers to be considerate of our neighbours when dropping off and picking up students. Please avoid parking in or across driveways, even for a brief period. Our neighbours always require clear access to their properties, and we appreciate your help in maintaining a positive relationship within our community. Thank you for your understanding and for supporting us in keeping our school a respectful and considerate environment for everyone.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
Please keep our Year 3 students in your thoughts and prayers as they prepare to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Last Wednesday, all Year 3 students took part in a Retreat Day facilitated by 24:7 Ministry, which provided a day filled with meaningful, age-appropriate activities. That evening, it was wonderful to see many parents and children attend the Parent & Child Workshop, led by Mario Borg from 24:7 Ministry. Both the retreat and workshop focused on God’s invitation for us to grow closer to Him through His love and forgiveness. A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated Year 3 teachers for their ongoing support and care.

Project Compassion
Thank you to everyone who contributed so generously to Project Compassion. Your support is deeply appreciated and makes a meaningful difference.
Unwell students
As we move into the colder months, we kindly ask that unwell students are kept at home. If a child becomes unwell during the school day or presents symptoms of illness, our staff and school nurse will contact parents to arrange for them to go home. Sending sick children to school can affect the health and wellbeing of other students, staff, and their families. We greatly appreciate your understanding and support in helping us maintain a healthy school environment. Student Pupil Free Day & Public Holiday
Please note that Friday 30 May (Week 5) will be a Pupil Free Day. While students have the day off, staff will be engaged in a full day of Professional Learning. Monday 2 June (Week 6) is a Public Holiday in Western Australia. Students will return to school on Tuesday, 3 June 2025.
Premier’s Reading Challenge
What is this?
This challenge is for students to read 12 books or more during the challenge.
Who can take part?
Students from Kindy to Year 10.
When does it start?
It’s started! It runs from 7 April to 27 June, 2025.
How do I enter?
Parents can register their child/children online.

Messages from the P&F President – Mrs Suraya Correia
Welcome back CtK!
Firstly, congratulations to all of the winners of the Easter Raffle we held at the end of last term. We hope that all of the wonderful prizes that were so generously donated kept the winning children busy over the holidays.
This week we are kicking off with 2 days of Mother’s Day Stalls on Tuesday 6th May for Pre-K & Kindy and Wednesday 7th May for Pre-Primary to Year 6. If your children would like to purchase any gifts, please send them to school on their stall day with no more than $20 in a clear bag/envelope clearly labelled with their name and year level. There is no maximum gift purchase so they can buy as many as they like and we have some special granny gifts this year too! The gifts will be wrapped (so you can’t sneak a peak!) and sent home with your children that day. A lot of thought and careful consideration is taken when each gift is picked by your little ones, so we hope your heart is filled with joy when you open them on Sunday.
On Friday 9th May we will have 2 beautiful photo stations ready for you to have a lovely Mother’s Day picture with your kids from 7:50-8:40am. One will be in the Quad and one in the Pre-Primary area. The classroom teachers have organised very special activities for you to do with your little ones in their class from 8:10-8:40am. After this time, we will be holding (with a special line up of Mother’s Day Butlers!) the Mother’s Day Morning Tea in the Hall for just the grown-ups to eat something yummy, relax and connect with all of the other incredible women at CtK. Thank you to everyone who has RSVP, we will have a very full hall and are very excited to make you all feel appreciated and pampered on this special day! For those that cannot stay, please pop past on your way out and grab a plate and cuppa to take with you.

Our first P&F Meeting of Term 2 will be on Wednesday 14th May at 5-6pm in the Library. We will be planning the remaining events of Term 2 and look forward to seeing you there.
