Christ the King Day

Christ the King Day was an enjoyable day for our staff and students last Wednesday. We gathered as a school community in the hall for Mass, led by Father Isidore. Following this, each class spent some well-deserved time with their buddies! The afternoon session included a Foam Run organised by our wonderful P&F. Thank you to our marvellous parent volunteers who organised and helped with this special event! We hope the students enjoyed CtK Day 2025!

Earlier this year, students from Years 3-6 took part in our House Prayer Card Competition. As part of this project, students were invited to design an illustration that represented their House leaders and values. These wonderful artworks are now being transformed into special House Prayer Cards, which every student will receive at the end of the year. The heartfelt prayers that appear on the back of each card were written by our talented Year 6 students.

We are very excited to announce the following winners for their factions:

• DeVialar: Mia Bennett-Ng (Year 4)
• Milne: Sean Lynch (Year 4)

This is a fantastic achievement. The winning designs will be printed and shared across our school community for everyone to enjoy and celebrate. The winners were officially announced following our CtK Mass. We can’t wait to share these beautiful cards with our school community. A lasting celebration of our faith, creativity, and the strong sense of community that makes our school so special. Huge thanks to Mrs Barrett, for all her hard work with this!

End of Year Reports 2025

End of year reports will be available on SEQTA Engage from Thursday 11 December at 3.30pm. Please check your SEQTA login now to ensure smooth access. New families should refer to the welcome email sent earlier (check Junk/Spam if needed). If you require support, contact admin@ctk.wa.edu.au.

We recommend logging in via the school website or the direct link (https://ctk.engage.cewa.edu.au) on a laptop or desktop. Avoid using saved bookmarks, as they may cause access issues.

Year 6 families and those leaving CTK must download and save all reports before the end of the school year, as access will be removed once students leave the system.

Optional parent–teacher meetings to discuss reports will be held on Wednesday, 17 December from 8.30am–10.30am. Please email teachers directly to book a 10-minute appointment. Thank you for your ongoing support.

Move Up Morning – Monday 8 December 2025

Between 8.45am and 10.30am on Monday 8 December, our students will spend time with their classroom teacher for 2026 and will participate in some activities with their new cohort. We also have some new students joining our beautiful school. We look forward to a fun morning together!

Student Absences & Late Arrivals Reminders

There are still several families who are not notifying the school office if your child/ren are absent from school. PLEASE DO NOT WAIT FOR A MESSAGE FROM THE SCHOOL. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students, please take note of the following procedures:

1. Reporting Absences

All student absences must be reported to the school office by 9am via one of the official channels:

While informing the classroom teacher is appreciated, it does not meet the official attendance requirements.

2. Late Arrivals – After 8.40am

If your child arrives after 8.40am, please sign them in at the front office. This ensures:

• Accurate attendance records
• Their safety in case of emergencies

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and well-organised school environment.

Playing Before & After School

A gentle reminder that children must remain under the supervision of their parents and are not permitted to use playground equipment before or after school. We kindly ask that once you have collected your child at the end of the day, you leave the school grounds promptly. There are still several children running through the quadrangle and playing on equipment around the school and are not supervised. Please ensure family members or friends collecting your child are also aware that all playground equipment is out of bounds. Thank you for your cooperation.

Student Uniform Reminder & Expectations

2025 marks the final year of our school uniform transition period. From the beginning of the 2026 school year, all students will be required to wear the new school uniform.

Please note that Tudor Uniforms will close on Thursday, 19 December 2025, and reopen on Monday, 6 January 2026. Orders placed after 6 January may not be ready in time for the new school year, so we encourage all families to make their uniform purchases before 19 December to avoid any delays. Uniforms can be purchased online at tudorschooluniforms.com.au or directly from the Wangara showroom. Thank you for your cooperation in helping ensure a smooth start to the 2026 school year.

A reminder to all families that students must wear the correct school uniform with pride. Recently, some students have been seen wearing incorrect items, including non-school shoes, socks with logos, and hair accessories not in school colours. Please note:

• Claw clips are not permitted.
• Socks must be plain white or school socks.
• Only stud earrings or small sleepers are allowed for safety reasons.
• Hair longer than shoulder length must be tied back neatly.
• Ensure all uniform items are clearly labelled to assist with their return if lost.

Christmas Hampers

As we approach the Christmas season, it’s time once again to think of those in our community who may need a little extra support. This year, our school is proudly continuing our tradition of supporting the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal, by collecting non-perishable food items.

Each class has been allocated a specific item to contribute towards creating festive hampers. These hampers will be filled with a variety of Christmas treats to help families enjoy a joyful celebration. Please send your class’s allocated item directly to the library, not to the school office. Once collected, the items will be sorted and packed into hampers for the St Vincent de Paul Society, to distribute to families within our local community.

We kindly ask that all donations be brought in as soon as possible, to allow enough time for the hampers to be prepared and delivered before Christmas. The final date for donations is: Friday, 28 November, 2025 (Week 7).

Yes, I ran my own small business teaching Early Childhood Music.

Supporting Children (and You the Parents) Through the School Holidays

As we head into the six-week summer break, it’s important to acknowledge that holidays—while exciting—can also be a significant routine breaker for many children. The structure that school provides helps anchor their day, so when that disappears, some children may experience emotional dysregulation, increased anxiety, or behaviour changes. This is completely normal and something many families go through each year.

Why Routines Matter

Consistent routines help children feel safe and secure. According to the Australian Institute of Family Studies, predictable daily rhythms support emotional stability and reduce stress. When routines shift, some children may need time to adjust.

The Benefits of Down Time

While children may initially push against the lack of structure, research shows that unstructured time—including boredom—is valuable. The American Academy of Paediatrics highlights that downtime fosters creativity, problem-solving, independence, and self-regulation.

Letting Them Be Bored (Yes, It’s a Good Thing!)

Boredom is not something to avoid—it’s something to embrace. Studies in child development show that when children have space to feel bored, they often discover new interests, become more imaginative, and strengthen resilience.

A Perfect Opportunity to Build Connection

The school holidays can also be a beautiful window for strengthening parent–child relationships. Without the rush of school mornings, homework, and busy schedules, families can slow down and share moments that build trust, connection, and lasting memories.

This is also an ideal time to practise lifelong daily living skills, such as:

• Tying shoelaces
  Slowing down and practising together in a stress-free environment can make a big difference.
• Making simple snacks or lunches
  Encourages independence and confidence in the kitchen.
• Basic household tasks (setting the table, folding clothes, sweeping, emptying lunchboxes)
  Builds responsibility and fine motor skills.
• Organising personal belongings
  Helps with school readiness and self-management.
• Learning to tell the time or follow a simple schedule
  Strengthens routine awareness and independence.
• Money skills
  Counting coins, helping pay at a shop, or simple budgeting during outings.

These everyday activities nurture confidence, independence, and resilience—all while creating meaningful shared experiences between parents and children.

Tips for Navigating the Break

Here are some gentle, practical strategies to support a calmer holiday period:

✔ Maintain a loose routine
Daily anchors—like meals, rest time, and outdoor play—can help children feel grounded.

✔ Include predictable calm moments
Reading together, quiet play, or family walks help regulate emotions for both parents and children.

✔ Encourage independent play
Give children time to explore without rushing in to fix boredom.

✔ Prioritise rest
Holidays don’t need to be busy. Down days support emotional balance.

✔ Support emotional expression
Naming feelings helps children understand and regulate them.

✔ Keep expectations realistic
Big changes can bring big feelings—patience and consistency help enormously.

A Final Thought

The holidays are a wonderful opportunity for connection, rest, skill-building, and child-led exploration. While the shift in routine can feel challenging at first, with gentle structure, empathy, and room for independence, children often settle into the break beautifully.

Let’s all give ourselves permission to slow down, enjoy the sunshine, and embrace simple moments, boredom included!

WOW! What a fun day we all had at the CtK Day – Foam Obstacle Course! We want to say a huge thank you to all of the amazing volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes getting everything ready for the day and then helped it run so smoothly. We hope that those who did attend had an amazing time and that your children had the BEST DAY EVER!!! A huge THANK YOU to Mr Kelly, Mrs Urbano and Mrs Barrett for putting their hand up to be slimed! Your support is very much appreciated and we hope that you too had a great SLIME 😂👏🏻

We are so proud to announce that because of your Generous donations towards our Foam Fundraiser CtK, we raised a total of 🥁🥁….. $6910.85!!!!!! This incredible donation will be passed onto next year’s P&F, who will put it towards new exciting initiatives and resources that you will see all over the school 🥳.
