Dear Parents, Caregivers and Community Members,

Lord Jesus, at this time of year we so often get caught up in the mad frenzy of buying presents, writing cards and catching up with friends and family, that we forget the true meaning of this Advent Season. Help us to stop and reflect on the gift of your birth to all of us.

Teach us how to slow down and see the wonder and the glory of this time.

Amen

In writing my last newsletter for 2025, I am able to reflect on just what a unique and special place Christ the King School is to be a part of. Sometimes we, as humans, forget to stop and smell the roses. Our school and parish are just the most amazing places, filled with many wonderful and vibrant people. I wish to take this opportunity to remind you all of the words of Catherine McAulay:

“God does not bestow all His choicest blessings on one person. He did not give to St. Peter what He gave to St. Paul nor to either what He gave to St. John.”

Congratulations to all staff and students for making Move Up Morning such a wonderful, smooth running and engaging experience. I could see and hear from the chatter that there was lots of positive energy around the school. The children and staff are looking forward to new beginnings in 2026. Bravo everyone!

Our Graduation and Thanksgiving Mass yesterday morning was a wonderful celebration of a very busy year together, as we celebrated the achievements, and gave thanks for the many blessings received by all of us. Our Catholic faith is at the heart of our school and so it is fitting, that our final celebration together, is one centred on the Eucharist and our community of faith. As always, our students were reverent participants in the Mass and are a credit to their teachers and parents. Also, many thanks to the parents, grandparents and friends, who were able to make the time, to enjoy this celebration with us. Congratulations to our Year Six students and, especially our Year Six teachers Miss Kezic and Mrs Barrett for coordinating and leading the lovely Mass. Thank you, Mrs Carroll for leading the choir who sung so beautifully. Thank you to Father Izzy, and acolyte Wayne Sgro for celebrating Mass with us.

Congratulations to Our Graduating Year Six Students. We wish them well, as they continue their journey to secondary education, and we thank them for the gift of their presence and contributions to Christ the King School during their time here. Thank you also to all the members of the CtK teaching team for their support and contribution to all our students during 2025 – their constant commitment to our students is truly a gift to this community.

We came together Tuesday as a school community to acknowledge our Award recipients for 2025. It was a wonderful assembly filled with lots of pride and joy. Thank you to everyone for being there Tuesday. A HUGE thank you to Miss Kezic and Mrs Barrett for planning, coordinating and leading the ceremony plus thank you to our current Head Girl Tessa Salerno and Head Boy Bailen Allen for being our MCs. A job very well done as the ceremony ran smoothly.

Congratulations to all our award recipients for 2025!

What a wonderful evening Wednesday week was with our Christmas Carols! I wish to congratulate all the children for their singing and dancing. A huge thank you to Mrs Carroll for preparing and coordinating the Carols night. Thank you, Mr Dom for setting up all the lights and Christmas decorations and, thank you to all the staff for preparing the children so well. Thank you, Miss Kezic for taking all the photos. Thank you to our P&F for organising the Snack bar and raffles, awesome job ladies as always.

A special and warm thank you to all families who donated a food item for the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. This great range of food products will go a long way to helping many families in need this Christmas. Thank you, Mrs Bafile and Mrs Cammarano for coordinating and modelling this very important act of service for our school community.

Congratulations Charlotte Millett and Caelan Lloyd for being chosen as our Head Girl and Head Boy for 2026. They will both represent our school with pride, determination and grit.

Friday being our last day of 2025 will be celebrated with our Big Day Out to the movies in Southlands.

A HUGE thank you to Mr Alf Di Tullio and Danny for coordinating the Fathering Group Paper Planes and Pizza Night last Friday. It was a fabulous turnout with some exceptional fast flying planes made. It was a very enjoyable gathering of dads and their children. We are looking for some more dads to help out next year as more hands make light work. Let’s share the load by being child centred for all of our children in 2026.

CtK Yearbook 2025 is coming home in April 2026. The reason for this is so we can capture all the end of year events and ceremonies, which have always been left out of the Yearbook.

A reminder that next Wednesday, 17 December between 8:30 and 10:30am parents can meet to discuss their child’s Semester Two report. This is not compulsory. Each interview will go for a maximum of 10 minutes only. Please book a time with your child’s class teacher.

Year 6 Reports

Parents of students in Year 6 and children who are leaving CtK at the end of this year will need to either print off their child’s reports or save them, as reports will not be able to be accessed once children leave CtK.

Congratulations Sydney, Kaia, Patrick, Emily, Una and Hugo for their participation in the Lego First League Competition last Thursday and Friday in Forrestfield and Langford. This team won the ‘Team Spirit Award’.

Congratulations Hazel, Marlon, Jack, Kai and Zavier for finishing 11th out of 29 schools for their Lego challenge. For their first attempt, this was an outstanding achievement. Awesome job teams!

Thank you Mrs Doeke for being at the Lego First Challenges on both days. Thank you, Torsten Reiners for taking the children every Tuesday and Thursday after school for Lego League and coordinating both days. Awesome job all!

I take this opportunity to wish you all God’s blessings for this very Holy Season, and may you remain safe during the holidays and return rested and renewed for 2026 on Monday, 2 February. Welcome to Week 9 Term 4

It is hard to believe that we’ve reached the end of the school year for 2025! As the school year ends, many young people begin to feel a mix of excitement or stress in anticipation of the holidays. As parents and caregivers, it’s important to help them navigate these emotions while guiding them through the transition.

We can start by recognising and validating their feelings. Whether they’re stressed, fatigued, or excited. Acknowledging these emotions opens the door to conversations that can better support our children during this time. It’s also helpful to reassure them that it’s normal to experience a range of emotions as the year ends.

Encouraging healthy routines remains key. Ensuring good sleep, balanced nutrition, and regular physical activity can help maintain focus and ease anxiety. Involving children in creating schedules fosters organisational skills and allows for a balance of creative play, outdoor time, and family moments.

Finally, it’s essential to remember that the end of term marks a time of change. We can help children adjust to the holiday break by creating opportunities for them to unwind and reflect on their achievements. With support and structure, they can transition smoothly into the holidays, returning to school feeling refreshed and ready for the new year ahead.

Farewell to our Year 6 class

I would like to wish our Year 6 students the very best of luck as they begin the next exciting chapter of their educational journey. They are an incredible group of children, each with unique talents who have made valuable contributions to our school community. We look forward to hearing all about their adventures when they come back to visit us at Christ the King School soon!

End of Year Reports

End of Year Reports will be available to parents/carers from Pre-Primary to Year 6 via SEQTA Engage at 3.30pm today. Once reports are made available, I encourage you to read over the information very thoroughly with your child. It is important they understand the areas they have participated well in and any areas for improvement. Thank you to our teaching staff for all their hard work in preparing the reports. Please remember that if you are leaving our school, you must access, print, save and download your child’s reports as they will be removed from the Primary SEQTA system.

A special thank you goes to our P&F Executive Team for their tireless work behind the scenes. Your dedication ensured that our community events were not only well organised but also well attended. You are very much appreciated! A particular shout out to the year level class reps for 2025. Your communication with parents and your organisation of social gatherings have been greatly appreciated and have played a big part in strengthening our CtK community. We are deeply grateful for all your contributions. Thank you to our CSAC members. Your support and cooperation throughout the year has been invaluable.

A sincere thank you to Mr Kelly, our incredible Principal, for always prioritising the students and fostering an environment where “great things” can happen at our school. Your unwavering support of our families, students and staff is truly valued.

Thank You Christmas Hampers Appeal

A huge thank you to our wonderful school community for your generosity and support of this year’s St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. Your donations of non-perishable items have helped us create festive hampers that will bring joy, comfort, and hope to families in our local community this Christmas.

A Message from Tessa & Bailen – our 2025 Head Girl & Head Boy Wrap Up!

Semester Two Recap!

Semester Two has been a wonderful semester with fun filled exciting school events. Christ the King had an amazing Athletics Carnival on September 12 with amazing runners and great sportsmanship. It was so great to see everyone have a go and try their best.

We are also so fortunate to have the amazing Edu Dance program and to all the students for their amazing dance’s bringing so much energy to the stage! The Year Sixes also really enjoyed their Year Six Camp. They participated in fun and engaging activities such as a Night Walk, Rock Wall, Billy Carts a commando course and many more. They built stronger relationships with others and stepped out of their comfort zone to try new things and had their best time making unforgettable memories with everyone.

On October 30th and 31st, the year Five’s had their overnight sleepover at school watching a movie and enjoying each other’s company. Congratulations to the Year Five finalists for their wonderful Head Girl and Head Boy speeches that they presented in Week 5.

Amazing job to all the interschool athletics participants for their best effort, wonderful running and great team play as CTK won the shield! We have just recently had the CTK foam run with students having loads of fun and raising great money for the fabulous P&F.

Lastly, good luck to the Year Sixes as they have their Graduation coming soon, we wish them all the best as they move to the next stage of their journey of life, preparing for high school and enjoying their orientation days meeting new people and exploring their high school.

A Message from our School Nurse – Ms Andrea Mangan

Hello wonderful CTK families!

As we move into this joyful Christmas season, I wanted to take a moment to wish you all a warm and heartfelt Merry Christmas and to thank you for another wonderful year working alongside you and your children.

It is truly a privilege to care for our students, your children and support their wellbeing — not just from a medical perspective, but through a whole-child, holistic approach. Whether it’s a scraped knee, a tricky morning, a big feeling, or a need for reassurance, I’m here for your children in every way I can be.

This time of year can be exciting, busy, and sometimes a little overwhelming for families. But it’s a time to be enjoyed and thankful as we reflect on the end of the school year.

Thank you for welcoming me into your school community for another year and for the trust you place in me. I hope the holidays bring you rest, joy, and plenty of special moments with the people you love.

Messages from the P&F President – Mrs Suraya Correia

We would like to say a huge thank you CtK for all of your support this year. The endless hours volunteered, the sweets baked (or brought 😂) and the generous prizes donated helped us to create some very special moments and in turn, helped us raise vital funds for our school. As a Community we came together and raised the $50k needed to put towards the new Nature Playground which is scheduled to start being built very soon!

We hope that your family experienced many moments of joy and happiness from the events and fundraisers we ran this year, and that they will be beautiful memories to look back upon in years to come.
