When God calls us
to dwell with Him above,
We mortals sometimes question
the wisdom of His love.
For no heartache compares with,
the death of a loved one.
Who does so much to make our world, seem so wonderful and mild.
Perhaps God tires of calling
the aged to His fold.
So He picks a rosebud
before it can grow too old.
God knows how much we need them,
and so He takes but a few.
To make the land of heaven
more beautiful to view.
Believing this is difficult
still somehow we must try.
The saddest word mankind knows
will always be Good-bye.
So when a loved one departs,
we who are left behind,
Must realise God loves us.
Angels Are Hard To Find!
STAFF PD (PUPIL FREE DAY) – Tomorrow, Friday, 19 August, Claire Orange will be presenting her knowledge and passion to staff about mental health and wellbeing. We are all looking forward to Claire working with us. This will then lead to how we as a staff can best support our childrens’ wellbeing at CtK.
CYBER SAFETY PARENT WORKSHOP – Our Year 5 students listened to Kaylene Kerr from esafety Cyber Safety workshops. Parenting in the digital age can be complex and challenging. Whilst there are many benefits for our children being online, there are also risks. As the trusted adults in our children’s lives we can support them to maximise the benefits and minimise the risks.
FATHERING PROJECT – A huge thank you to the dads who turned up to listen to Paul Hetherington, representative for Western Australia and South Australia. We have now formed a Fathering Group Committee and further information will be communicated to all dads shortly.
OPEN NIGHT – Put it in your diaries as we showcase the learning happening in classrooms. The library, Music Room, Learning Hub and Science Lab will be ready to showcase everything new and wonderful. This will run from 5:30-7:00pm on Wednesday, 31 August. A sausage sizzle and soft drink will be available from the canteen. Remember, the Lego competition will also be running.
Wear Your Footy Colours – Last Friday, 12 August we had our ‘Wear Your Footy Colours’ to school. Thank you, Chloe Theresia and Jessica Danaher in Year 6 for coming up with the idea of free dress and lunch last Friday to raise $1100.00 for the P&F and Patch. Well done girls! Thank you, everyone for your support.
IEP MEETINGS – Thank you to the parents for having rich and engaging conversations about their child as there were moments of celebration and goal setting. Thank you to Mrs Carrello, Mrs Luelf, CEWA representative Mrs Kounis plus the classroom teachers for their professionalism and commitment to the children and their learning in their care.
ILLNESS – I am asking all parents to make sure children who are unwell stay home as we are sending a very large number of students home who are vomiting.
NATIONAL SCIENCE WEEK – We’ve been celebrating National Science Week by exploring this year’s theme of, Glass: more than meets the eye. Students have been considering how important glass is in their daily lives and examining the many and varied ways that we use glass. They have also been learning what glass is made of and how it is made. Students from kindy to Year 6 have participated in a range of activities; from lava lamps and kaleidoscopes to ‘glass cookies’ and musical bottles. The students have thoroughly enjoyed exploring glass!
There is a beautiful quote from Janusz Korczak, (a Polish Jewish educator, children’s author and Principal of an orphanage in Warsaw), that I would like to share with you. This quote and the sentiment within, are my hopes and prayer for the children entrusted in our care here at CtK.
