I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and commitment shown by our students, staff and families throughout the term. It has been wonderful to see students engaging enthusiastically in their learning, taking on new challenges and demonstrating our school values in their everyday actions.

Our teachers are currently working diligently to ensure that Mid-Year Reports are clear, accurate and concise. A significant amount of time and effort goes into preparing these reports, with teachers engaging in thorough discussions about assessments, grading and comments to provide meaningful and consistent feedback for every student. As mentioned previously, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns. Please remember, that ‘the only silly question is the question never asked’.

Throughout the last eight weeks, there have been many opportunities for our students to showcase their skills, both inside and outside the classroom. Whether through academic achievement, sporting participation, creative pursuits, or acts of kindness, our students continue to make us proud!

As we approach the final weeks of the term, I encourage all students to maintain their focus, complete assessment tasks to the best of their ability and continue developing positive learning habits. Consistent attendance, organisation and effort remain key factors in achieving success.

 

Sacrament of Eucharist

Thank you to our Year 4 students and families who attended the Sacrament of Holy Communion celebration last weekend. It was a beautiful occasion for our students and families, and we are incredibly proud of the reverence and commitment shown by all the candidates.

A very special thank you to Mrs Tilzey and Ms Wayne for the wonderful job they did in preparing our students for this important sacrament. I also extend sincere thanks to Mrs Leulf for her continued support throughout the preparation process. Your dedication, guidance and encouragement helped make this a meaningful and memorable milestone for our students and their families. We also thank the many staff who attended Mass and supported our students and teachers!

We would also like to thank Germaine Mastison from the CtK Parish for her support and assistance, and extend our gratitude to the priests who celebrated this special Sacrament with us. Their guidance, presence and contribution helped make the celebration a special and faith-filled occasion for our students and families.

 

Semester 1 Reports for PP – Year 6 students

Mid-Year Reports for students in Pre-Primary to Year 6 will be released at the end of the school day on Thursday 2 July, 2026.

At Christ the King School, we continue to implement the revised WA Curriculum and report student progress in line with School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) guidelines. These reports provide an accurate and objective assessment of each student’s progress and achievement against the Western Australian Achievement Standards.

In line with CEWA’s updated reporting practices, each learning area (e.g. English) is now reported with an overall grade rather than separate grades for individual strands (e.g. reading, writing, speaking and listening). This reflects the interconnected nature of skills within each learning area. Teachers make a holistic, professional judgement using a range of formal and informal assessment evidence, aligned with SCSA achievement standards and assessment pointers. Please note that mid-year reports reflect student achievement based on the curriculum taught to this point in the year. Some students working on an Individual Education Plan will receive a report aligned to their modified learning program.

Teachers have already communicated with families during Term 1 interviews and remain available to discuss your child’s progress further, including specific skill development. Student progress will continue to be shared formally through reports, informally through platforms such as Seesaw, and through parent-teacher communication and meetings. As always, if you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher in the first instance. 

 

Respectful Communication in Our School Community

A gentle reminder that at Christ the King School, we are committed to fostering a caring and respectful community that reflects our Catholic values of love, dignity, compassion and respect. Families are reminded to always communicate thoughtfully and respectfully, both in person and online, including through social media and group messaging platforms.

We encourage parents to raise concerns directly with the school, be mindful of confidentiality, and model positive and empathetic communication for our children. By working together with kindness and understanding, we can continue to create a safe, supportive, and faith-filled environment for every student.

Student Safety During Drop Off and Pick Up

I have sent out many reminders about student safety, and once again, I kindly remind all families to remain vigilant during drop off and pick up times and to follow all school traffic and parking procedures.

Recently, staff and parents have observed children moving through the car park unsupervised, including crossing between vehicles and running through traffic areas as well as riding bikes through the carpark. All students should be using the footpath and parent supervision is a must! As our car park is a shared zone, we ask our parents and caregivers to always supervise children and remind them to use safe pedestrian practices.

Drivers are also reminded to exercise caution and remain alert, particularly during busy periods after the school bell.

Please support us by reminding children to:

• Check carefully for traffic
• Walk calmly and safely
• Use designated crossings where possible
• Avoid crossing between parked cars
• Stay attentive and leave the grounds promptly and safely

Uniform Expectations

We would like to congratulate our students on the pride they continue to show in wearing the school uniform so well. When enrolling at Christ the King School, families agree to support the school’s expectations and procedures, including adherence to the uniform policy. Recently, a small number of students have been wearing non-uniform items including incorrect shorts, shoes, jackets, pants, items of jewellery and incorrect tights. Please also remember that children should only be wearing their sports uniform on their allocated sports days and if they are participating in Running Club. There are a few students wearing their sports uniform when they shouldn’t be.

Staff will continue to monitor uniform standards and remind students of the correct requirements. Thank you for your ongoing support in maintaining the high standards of presentation at our school.

 

Attendance Matters

Regular school attendance is important from the very beginning of a child’s education journey. Consistent attendance supports children in building friendships, developing routines, and engaging successfully in learning experiences.

Research shows that students who frequently miss school in the early years are more likely to experience academic difficulties later on. Missing just one day per fortnight can have a significant impact on a child’s learning progress.

How families can help:

• Ensure your child attends school every day unless they are unwell.
• Establish consistent morning routines to support a calm start to the day.
• Address any concerns or difficulties with your child’s teacher early.
• Schedule family holidays during school vacation periods where possible.
• Arrange medical and dental appointments outside school hours or late in the day when possible.

Are Your Child’s Emergency Contact Details Current?

Keeping your child’s records up to date is very important for our school and staff. As circumstances change, please make sure the school is informed and has your current contact information. Please take a moment to check that both your details and your child’s emergency contact details are accurate and up to date.

 

School Fees Reminder

We would like to thank all families who have either returned their Payment Option Advice Form, paid their school fees in full, or are maintaining their agreed payment arrangements.

School fees play an important role in supporting the educational programs, resources, and opportunities we provide for our students. Families who have elected to pay by instalments are reminded to ensure payments are made in accordance with their chosen payment option.

If you have not yet returned your Payment Option Advice Form, we kindly ask that you do so at your earliest convenience, as all school fees are required to be finalised by the end of October 2026. We understand that circumstances can change, and we encourage any family experiencing financial difficulty to contact the school office to discuss a confidential payment arrangement. Our aim is to work collaboratively with families to ensure that financial challenges do not become a source of stress. ML Carnival

Wishing our selected Year 5 and 6 students all the very best as they represent our school this Friday in our ML Carnival at Winthrop Park (change of venue). Thank you to our wonderful teachers for all your hard work and support! Go team CtK!

 

Staffing Update

Ms Toni Darch has been appointed the Administration Officer position at our school. Toni brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the role, and we are delighted that she will be joining our team in this capacity. We wish her every success as she begins this new role. Congratulations Toni!

 

Did you know that….

• Lots of students are being sent to the office for excellent work in many different year groups. Weekend writing is a big hit. This is so pleasing to see and makes my day as I LOVE sharing my special stickers with the students!
• Mr Carrabs is running an Auslan Club for Year 4-6 students on Thursdays at lunch times in the library, and it is proving to be very popular! Thank you Mr Carrabs!
• Our Pre-Primary classes visited the Perth Zoo last week and had a wonderful time.
• Miss De Laeter (our Year 6G teacher) was taught by Mrs Reardon when Miss De Laeter was a student in Year 2 – can you believe it?!
• Mrs Burwood is celebrating her birthday in the July school holidays!
