From the Principal – Term 3, Week 02

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Community Members,

Loving God,

As we continue our journey through Term 3, we thank You for the many opportunities to learn, grow and serve one another.

Help us to approach each day with open hearts, curious minds and a willingness to do our very best. May we show kindness in our words, patience in our actions and compassion to everyone we meet.

Guide our students as they learn, our staff as they teach and support, and our families as they nurture and encourage one another. Strengthen our school community so that we may always reflect Your love through our words and actions.

May we remember that every act of kindness, every helping hand and every moment of perseverance brings us closer to becoming the people You have called us to be.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Welcome back to Term Three!

The school holidays always seem to pass quickly, but I do hope that the break provided your family with an opportunity to rest, recharge and enjoy some quality time together in preparation for another busy and exciting term at Christ the King School.

As a community, we are committed to valuing and supporting one another. Through our shared commitment as staff, students, and families, we continue to grow in love, respect, and understanding of each other. As we begin a new term together, we encourage everyone to approach each day with positivity, kindness and a willingness to support one another so that every member of our community can continue to reach their God-given potential academically, spiritually, physically and emotionally.

A special congratulations to all students who returned wearing their uniform correctly. Our students continue to represent Christ the King School with great pride through the way they present themselves each day.

Term Three is always a wonderful time of the year, filled with many opportunities beyond our usual teaching and learning programs. While the term can sometime begin with cooler, wetter weather, we look forward to the gradual transition into warmer days. This season brings longer daylight hours, new growth, and the excitement of spring. Of course, it also brings AFL Finals excitement, which is particularly special in 2026 for our many Fremantle Dockers supporters!

There is so much happening at CtK, and we look forward to sharing these experiences with our students and families throughout the term.

School Reports

At the end of last term, all families should have received their child’s Semester One Report. We encourage you to take the time to discuss your child’s achievements, strengths and areas for continued growth. Reports provide valuable insight into your child’s progress and help identify areas that can be further developed throughout Semester Two. As always, open and respectful communication between home and school is essential. If you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s progress, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.

Pupil Free Day

Please note that we have one Pupil Free Day scheduled for Term Three which is on Friday 25 September 2026 – the final day of Term Three.

CEWA Parent Code of Conduct

At CtK, we are proud of the positive relationships that exist between our students, staff and families. All members of our community are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with our School Code of Conduct, which outlines the standards of behaviour and respect expected within our community.

At the beginning of Term Three, a Parent Code of Conduct was introduced across all schools within Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA). This Code has been developed to provide guidance for parents and carers about how they can continue to support their child, our staff and the wider school community.

We thank our families for their continued support in maintaining respectful, positive and collaborative partnerships.

The Right to Disconnect

The staff at Christ the King School are a very dedicated and committed team of professionals who work tirelessly to provide the best possible learning experiences and care for our students. Recently, changes have been introduced regarding teacher working conditions and workload expectations outside of normal working hours. We would like to share some important information with families regarding these changes.

Unless a matter is urgent, it is reasonable to allow up to 48 hours for staff to respond to emails or seesaw messages. During the school day, teachers are often unable to respond immediately as they are engaged in teaching and have a duty of care to the students in their classrooms.

Staff also have the right to disconnect from work communications outside of their normal working hours. This includes the period from 4pm until 8.15am the following morning, weekends, and non-working days for part-time staff.

This change recognises that our staff members also have commitments and responsibilities outside of school. Many are parents, family members, and valued members of their own communities, and it is important that they have the opportunity to maintain a healthy balance between their professional and personal lives. Thank you for your support.

Term Three Uniform Expectations – Shoes, Socks & Haircuts

At the end of last term, we noticed some students arriving at school wearing incorrect footwear and socks. A reminder that students are required to wear:

The correct shoes to school each day
White socks only, with no logos or prints on them

We also remind families that haircuts must be appropriate for school. Hair that is longer than collar length must be tied back. Extreme hairstyles, including shaved patterns or words, mohawks, mullets, spikes, or significant variations in length, are not part of our School Uniform Procedures.

We understand that children enjoy expressing themselves and following current trends; however, our uniform expectations help ensure that all students present themselves neatly and proudly as members of the Christ the King School community.

Term Three Class Overviews

Term Three Class Overviews will be uploaded to Seesaw after 3pm today. These overviews provide families with information about the learning taking place in your child’s classroom throughout the term, as well as important dates and events.

WA Student Assistance Payment

The WA Student Assistance Payment supports parents and carers with cost-of-living pressures associated with sending children to school.

All Western Australian students from Kindergarten to Year 12 with a valid WA student number are eligible to apply.

Families can claim:

$250 for each secondary student
$150 for each primary school or Kindergarten student

The payment will be available through the ServiceWA app. Parents and carers are encouraged to set up or update their ServiceWA account and ensure they have an active Digital ID.

Applications open on Monday 20 July 2026.

All claims must be submitted by Friday 25 September 2026.

2027 Three-Year-Old Pre-Kindergarten Enrolments Now Open!

Are you looking for a nurturing and engaging start to your child’s educational journey? Enrolments for our 2027 Three-Year-Old Pre-Kindergarten program are now open! Our Pre-Kindy program operates four days per week, providing children with the opportunity to learn, play and grow in a warm, faith-filled environment. Through play-based learning, children develop confidence, independence and the foundational skills they need for future success at school.

In our Pre-Kindergarten program, children will:

Build friendships and develop positive social skills.
Grow in confidence and independence.
Explore early literacy and numeracy through hands-on, play-based experiences.
Develop language and communication skills.
Foster creativity through art, music, movement and imaginative play.
Strengthen fine and gross motor skills.
Discover God’s love through prayer, stories and everyday acts of kindness.

2027 Student Intentions

Families of students currently in Kindy to Year 5 are asked to advise the Principal in writing, if they are not intending to return to Christ the King School, in 2027. Providing this information as early as possible assists the school with future planning, staffing, and class organisation. Families are asked to provide at least one term’s notice, where possible.

Student Spotlight

Over the school holidays Marcello Lloyd, Year 6 Red, competed in the 2026 Karate Australia National Championships in Hobart, Tasmania. Marcello was selected as a dual athlete for WA competing in both Kata and Kumite events within his age and weight categories. Marcello felt very proud to represent WA and found it inspirational to stand shoulder to shoulder with Australia’s elite karate athletes. Western Australia finished second on the national medal tally, with 17 gold, 21 silver and 41 bronze medals. Go WA! Congratulations Marcello – we are so proud of you!

Did you know that…

Many students and staff enjoyed exciting adventures overseas during the July school holidays, with several travelling throughout Europe!
Mr Geaney continues to lead the way in our staff AFL footy tipping competition!
Last week, our Year One students had lots of fun exploring the exciting world of all things 100!
During the school holidays, all sandpits were carefully sifted, cleaned and prepared to ensure they were safe and ready for students to enjoy at the beginning of Term 3.
When we encourage children to read, we give them so much more than words on a page – we nurture confidence, curiosity and the opportunity to discover new worlds.
A beautiful new habitat, sensory and bush tucker garden has been created at our school near the basketball courts thanks to the dedication of two very special parent volunteers. We are excited to welcome a very ‘special guest’ who will officially open the garden soon. Stay tuned for more details. Watch this space!
