Welcome to Week 10
Reflecting on Term Two at Christ the King School:
As we look back on the eventful second term at our school, it’s clear that we’ve once again experienced numerous enriching opportunities together. It’s essential to recognise and celebrate these achievements as a unified school community.
We commenced our term with St John Ambulance Incursions, Anzac Day service in the quadrangle, observed significant Sacraments, honoured our Mothers with a delightful morning, engaged in various excursions and incursions, Kindy speech screenings, P&F events, Year 6 Masterchef, participated in cross-country carnivals and school photos, celebrated Wellbeing Week, enjoyed activities like Running club and Lego club, attended assemblies and Liturgical Singing, joined in National Simultaneous Story Time, gathered for our Milne House Prayer Liturgy and engaged in high-quality learning programs across all our classes! There’s so much happening at our exceptional school that fills us with immense pride and joy!
Sacramental Celebrations – Year 4
Congratulations to our amazing Year 4 students who recently received the Sacrament of the Eucharist. We are incredibly proud of you all! Thank you to the parents, carers, extended families, and staff for your continued support and prayers. A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated Year 4 teachers, Mrs Tilzey and Ms Wayne, for preparing the students so beautifully for this special occasion.
Mid-Year Reports
From 3.30pm today, you can access and download your child’s report on SEQTA Engage. Various formal and informal assessment methods, such as tests, work samples, teacher observations, interviews, projects, and assignments aligned with Curriculum Standards, have been used to evaluate your child’s progress. Please take the time to review the report thoroughly. As you go through your child’s report, it’s important to recognise their overall development, including academic performance, effort, attitude, as well as personal and social skills. We encourage you to celebrate your child’s accomplishments and commend their dedication, perseverance, and growth. You may also consider setting realistic growth goals for the next semester together, breaking them down into achievable steps to celebrate milestones along the way and maintain motivation.
Thank you for your ongoing support and collaboration in your child’s educational journey. We extend our gratitude to our dedicated teaching staff for their hard work in compiling these Mid-Term Reports. Our teachers invest significant time and effort in analysing assessment data, assigning grades, and crafting comments that accurately reflect student progress and attributes.
Edu-Dance Classes & Boogie Woogie at CtK
Next term, students in Years 1 to 6 will be participating in Edu-Dance classes. Our Kindergarten, Pre-Primary, and ECE Learning Centre students will take part in Boogie Woogie Dance sessions. Boogie Woogie will be held on Tuesdays for Kindergarten, Pre-Primary, and ECE Learning Centre students. Edu-Dance classes will run on Mondays and Thursdays. Teachers will let families know which day their child’s dance class will be. Please remember to send students in their sports uniform on their allocated dance day. We are excited to see our students enjoy and engage in these fun dance programs next term!
The 2025 Religious Education Assessment (REA)
The Religious Education Assessment (REA) for 2025 involves students in Years 3, 5, and 9 attending Catholic schools in Western Australia. This system-wide online assessment occurs during Weeks 2 and 3 of Term 3. Its purpose is to evaluate students’ grasp of the Religious Education Curriculum. Test materials tailored for each year level are prepared by the Religious Education Directorate at the Catholic Education Office of Western Australia, encompassing multiple-choice, short answer, and extended response questions. Comprehensive student reports are generated and distributed in Term Four, complementing school-based Religious Education assessments. This assessment provides educators and administrators with a timely overview of student performance in Religious Education. Parents and guardians of students in Year 3 and Year 5 have been notified about the upcoming assessment. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this assessment, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.
Term 3 Start Date
A reminder that Term 3 begins on Tuesday, 22 July for all students. Monday, 21 July is a Pupil Free Day, as staff will be attending a full day of Berry Street Professional Learning at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, in Hilton.

The winter holiday offers a wonderful chance to unwind and rejuvenate. It’s an ideal period to recharge, celebrate our successes, and prepare for the upcoming semester. Use this time to relax, spend quality moments with family and friends, and indulge in activities that bring happiness and renewal. A rested mind and spirit are crucial for personal development and shared success. A Message from Tessa and Bailen- Head Boy and Head Girl
Semester 1 RECAP!
During this exciting semester we have had a lot of things happening at Christ the King school. The first thing we want to talk about is the Year Three Reconciliation Retreat Day. This event happened on Wednesday the 30th of April. The Year Three students all enjoyed learning about the sacrament of Reconciliation. Next, we had the amazing CTK swimming carnival, we loved how there were such amazing swimmers and how everyone tried their best and had a go! This happened on the 25th of February, and it was hosted at the Fremantle Leisure Centre (Fremantle pools.) Next up we had the Cricket Carnival which was a very fun experience for the Fives and Sixes, and we ended up coming home with two trophies won by the B Division boys and the B Division girls. We also enjoyed the P&F events and the Milne and Donavan House liturgies. On Monday, Week Ten, the Year Sixes presented to the entire school including teachers, what they had planned and organised for MasterChef. In their groups they had around 4-5 people, altogether they raised around $2,000 for Telethon. Well done Year Sixes! This semester we had a few sacraments from Years Three to Six. The Year Threes had Reconciliation, the Year Fours had Holy Communion, and the Year Sixes had Confirmation. What a fun filled semester we had!
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT SEMESTER
Next semester, we are looking forward to many different fun experiences such as the Year Six camp. We are looking forward to this because there will be lots of difficult and challenging activities that will build our confidence and relationships with others. Another thing we are looking forward to is the CTK SNAFL and Athletics Carnivals. We are excited for this because we get to see everyone’s different skills and abilities in a very fun and exciting day.
One Big Voice
The One Big Voice Festival at RAC Arena on Friday, August 29, 2025, commencing at 12noon is getting closer and our students are working hard to learn their parts!
This wonderful choral festival promotes a love of singing, friendship, and acceptance and develops relationships with other children who share a love of music.
Tickets
Parents, carers, grandparents and friends are encouraged to attend this Festival. Tickets are on sale from June 17th and can be purchased through Ticketek online, RAC Arena or follow the links on the website: onebigvoice.com.au. Last Friday I sent home an event plan so you can see where our school will be positioned, and you can purchase tickets in the section directly above us. We are in section A2.
Subsidised tickets – these are available for parents who would otherwise be unable to attend the concert. We would love for each student to have an audience member present. Email Sandy at tickets@onebigvoice.com.au She will give you a code which will enable parents to get two $10 tickets in Silver or Bronze (This price covers Ticketek fees only).

Mindful Moments Over the School Break: The Power of Slowing Down (and Being Bored)
As we head into the school holidays, it can be tempting (or you may feel compelled) to fill every day with activities, outings, and to-do lists—but sometimes, what children need most is simply space to slow down. Don’t feel guilty for allowing this.
In today’s fast-paced world, many children are constantly switched on—juggling school, extracurriculars, screens, and social commitments. While these experiences can be enriching, a constantly busy schedule can leave little time for emotional regulation, creativity, or true rest. The result? Tired minds, overwhelmed feelings, and missed opportunities to just be.
That’s why this school break, we encourage you to embrace and even teach your children to be bored. Boredom isn’t a bad thing—it’s a gateway to mindfulness, creativity, and problem-solving. When children aren’t being entertained every moment, their minds are free to wander, reflect, and develop important inner resources like self-soothing, imagination, and emotional awareness.
Taking time for mindful breaks—whether it’s a quiet walk, some deep breathing, drawing, music, or even just doing nothing—helps children slow down, reset, and tune into themselves. These moments build resilience and support wellbeing in a way that packed schedules cannot.
So, this break, give your child (and yourself!) permission to not do it all. Let there be space—for rest, for quiet, and yes, even for boredom. It’s in those quiet pauses that the magic of mindfulness often begins. Wishing you a calm, restorative, and wonderfully uneventful school break 🌿

SAVE THE DATE! The P&F Musical Bingo Night (18+) – Saturday 8th November at South Fremantle Footy Club.
We are SO excited to bring you a night you won’t forget with an Adult’s Only Musical Bingo night. This years theme will be 80’s & 90’s Hits and YES you can dress up! We will also have a very special performance by CtK’s very own Peter Rowsthorn! So start getting your costumes and tables ready (tables seat 10 people) as tickets will go on sale early next term! More information about this event will be sent out soon, so keep an eye out so you don’t miss out!
