Welcome to Week 6!
Book Week 2025 – ‘Book an Adventure’
What a wonderful week we had last week celebrating Book Week 2025! This year’s theme, “Book an Adventure” truly came to life across the school as students, staff, and families embraced the magic of reading.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make the week such a success. The Book Character Parade was a highlight, with so many creative, colourful, and clever costumes on display. It was fantastic to see our school community come together to celebrate a shared love of books. Thank you to our amazing staff for dressing up as Minions!
Our Book Fair was also a great success, with lots of students excited to choose new books to take home. Thanks to your support, we have raised valuable funds that will go directly towards new resources for our school library. Huge thanks to Mrs Darch for all her hard work and help with our Book Fair this year!
Throughout the week, our students enjoyed:
- Storytime sessions and mystery guest readers
- Author visits from K-6
- Buddy reading across year levels
- A classroom door decorating competition
- Lots of book-inspired fun and learning!
Thank you again to all the families who helped with costumes, attended the Book Fair, and encouraged reading at home. Book Week 2025 was a true celebration of imagination, creativity, and the power of stories. Thank you To Mrs Gumina and the Literacy team for all your hard work and preparation.
Important Reminders – Student Absences & Late Arrivals
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students, please take note of the following procedures:
- Reporting Absences
All student absences must be reported to the school office by 9am via one of the official channels:
- Website: www.ctk.wa.edu.au
- Phone: 9487 9900
- Email: admin@ctk.wa.edu.au
While informing the classroom teacher is appreciated, it does not meet the official attendance requirements.
- Late Arrivals – After 8.40am
If your child arrives after 8.40am, please sign them in at the front office. This ensures:
- Accurate attendance records
- Their safety in case of emergencies
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and well-organised school environment.
Communication Guidelines at Christ the King
At Christ the King, we deeply value the strong partnership between home and school. Parents and carers play a vital role in supporting their child’s learning, and clear, respectful communication helps ensure we’re all working together to provide the best possible experience for our students.
If you need to discuss anything related to your child, we kindly ask that your first point of contact is always your child’s class or specialist teacher. Our teachers will also reach out directly to parents and carers as needed, regarding any school-related matters.
To help maintain a healthy work-life balance for our staff, we ask families to keep the following guidelines in mind:
- Teacher Availability: Teachers are not expected to respond to Seesaw messages or emails after 4pm. Each teacher has set their “work hours” on Seesaw to help ensure consistency across the school.
- Response/Reply Time: Unless the matter is urgent, please allow up to 48 hours for a reply. Teachers are not required to respond to messages on weekends or during school holidays, so please be mindful of this.
- Part-Time Staff: Please note that part-time teachers are not expected to respond on days they are not working.
Our staff are dedicated professionals who have family, personal commitments, and responsibilities outside of school hours. We appreciate your understanding and ongoing support in respecting their time and wellbeing. Thank you for helping us maintain a positive and respectful communication environment at CtK.
Unwell Students
A gentle reminder, as we navigate the colder months, we kindly ask that unwell children remain at home to rest and recover. Sending unwell students to school can affect the health and wellbeing of both peers and staff. If a child presents as unwell during the day, our school nurse or staff will contact families promptly. For guidance on when your child should stay home, please refer to the WA Health website: www.health.wa.gov.au Thank you for your continued understanding and care.
Catholic Performing Arts Festival
Last Tuesday evening, the seven members in our school rock band represented CtK in the Contemporary Primary Band section of the Catholic Performing Arts Festival at Sacred Heart College, Sorrento. The evening was electric and the band gave an incredibly polished performance that showcased their talent and hard work. Their confidence and teamwork stood out and they received numerous compliments and an excellent adjudication. Thank you to all the parents and families who attended and cheered our students on, and to Mr May for your excellent contribution in preparing our band.
One Big Voice
It’s finally here!! Good luck to our choir students attending the One Big Voice concert on Friday. Your commitment to the songs and rehearsals has been outstanding and the songs sound wonderful. Good luck and have an amazing concert!

Will Your Child Be Returning to Christ the King in 2026?
We are pleased to share that Christ the King School continues to thrive, with many year levels currently at capacity and waiting lists in place for families hoping to join our school community. To assist us with planning for 2026, we kindly ask that if you know your child will not be returning to Christ the King next year, please notify the Administration Office as soon as possible, via email. Peaceful Kids – Supporting Emotional Wellbeing at School
As your school nurse, my role is not only to support children with their physical health but also to nurture their overall wellbeing. I work holistically with students and families, and one of the ways I do this is by offering the Peaceful Kids program here at school.
Peaceful Kids is a small group program designed to support children who may be experiencing anxiety, worry, or emotional challenges. Through guided activities, the program helps children:
- Learn and practise mindfulness strategies
- Build resilience and positive coping skills
- Develop confidence in managing strong emotions
- Improve focus and overall sense of calm
The program is practical, gentle, and tailored to give children lifelong tools to manage stress and regulate their emotions. Many students who take part find they not only feel calmer but also more connected and better able to cope with the ups and downs of school and home life.
If you feel your child might benefit from being part of Peaceful Kids, I warmly invite you to reach out to me for a confidential chat. I am always here for more than just medical needs – whether it’s health, wellbeing, or emotional support, my door is always open. Together, we can find the best way to support your child.
ADHD Parent & Guardian Support Group
A reminder that our next ADHD Parent/Guardian Support Group will be taking place on Thursday 4th September meeting at 1.45pm in the Library. This group is open to all parents and guardians – whether your child has a diagnosis of ADHD, you suspect they may, or you simply want to learn more and connect with others who share similar experiences.
The group provides a supportive space to:
- Share experiences and challenges
- Learn practical strategies to support children at home and school
- Connect with other families who truly understand
- Access resources and guidance in a relaxed, welcoming environment
We warmly welcome everyone – you don’t need any prior knowledge, just an interest in learning and supporting children with ADHD.
