Welcome to Week 3 Term 4
It’s been a fantastic few weeks at Christ the King School! It’s wonderful to see our students arriving each day with big smiles and a positive, ‘ready to learn’ attitude. Visiting classrooms has been a joy, with students quickly settling back into their learning routines. Thank you to our parents for your ongoing support and to our teachers for your hard work and dedication.
World Teachers’ Day – Friday 31 October
At Christ the King, every member of our staff is an educator. No matter their role, each person contributes to nurturing, guiding, and inspiring our student’s everyday!
On Friday, we celebrate World Teachers’ Day! This is a reminder to pause and show appreciation for the passion, care, and dedication our staff bring each day. Our educators do so much more than teach. They support, comfort, lead with faith, and walk alongside our families to help every child succeed. Please take a moment this week to thank a staff member for the incredible difference they make.
Term Dates
A gentle reminder that Friday 14 November, 2025 (Week 5) is a Pupil Free Day for all students.
Please note that Term 4 concludes on: Friday 12 December, 2025.
Student Absences & Late Arrivals
There are still several families who are not notifying the school office if your child/ren are absent from school. PLEASE DO NOT WAIT FOR A MESSAGE FROM THE SCHOOL. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students, please take note of the following procedures:
- Reporting Absences
All student absences must be reported to the school office by 9am via one of the official channels:

While informing the classroom teacher is appreciated, it does not meet the official attendance requirements.
- Late Arrivals – After 8.40am
If your child arrives after 8.40am, please sign them in at the front office. This ensures:
- Accurate attendance records
- Their safety in case of emergencies
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and well-organised school environment.
Before & After School Play Guidelines
A gentle reminder for safety reasons, students are not permitted to use playground equipment before or after school. Children must be supervised by parents during these times, and we kindly ask that families exit the school grounds promptly after pick up. Please remember to share these guidelines with anyone who collects your child on your behalf.

This year, our Year 6 Head Girl and Head Boy, Tessa and Bailen are interviewing staff so we can all get to know each other better. This week, they chatted with Mrs Salerno – one of our Education Assistants.

A Message from our School Nurse – Ms Andrea Mangan
High Pollen Count & Thunderstorm Asthma Alert
As mentioned in the previous newsletter – my aim this term was to bring you information from a recent WA School nurse education day. One of the speakers we had was from the Asthma council. Here is some information along with a fact sheet for you all to read.
We are currently experiencing very high pollen levels across Perth, and the Asthma Association has advised that conditions over the coming weeks may increase the risk of “thunderstorm asthma” — even in people who do not normally have regular asthma symptoms.
Thunderstorm asthma can occur when a thunderstorm breaks up large amounts of pollen into very fine particles that are easily breathed deep into the lungs. This can trigger wheezing, coughing, tightness in the chest, shortness of breath, or sudden flare-ups.
Children who have the following are likely to be affected:
- Asthma
- Hay fever / seasonal allergies
- Known grass pollen sensitivity
- Eczema or other atopic conditions
💡 How parents can support their child:
- Ensure preventer inhalers (if prescribed) are taken as directed
- Carry reliever puffers (e.g. Ventolin) if your child uses one
- Antihistamines or nasal sprays can be very helpful for allergy-related symptoms
- Speak with your GP or pharmacist if your child is reacting more than usual this season
I have also attached a Thunderstorm Asthma Factsheet from the National Asthma Council for families who would like more information.
If your child’s asthma or allergy plan needs updating, or if you have concerns about their symptoms at school, please feel free to contact me so we can ensure the right supports are in place.

Messages from the P&F President – Mrs Suraya Correia
ACM – Wednesday 12th November (Week 5)
MUSICAL BINGO – There are only a couple of tables left that are still up for grabs for the upcoming Musical Bingo Night being held on Saturday 8th November at South Freo Footy Club! There are also a few spots available at the Open table if you want to come along and bring a friend. All of the tickets are open to family and friends to purchase if they would like to come and have a super fun night!
We have put together a few yummy catering options from Bennys Bar & Cafe that you can pre-purchase and have delivered to your table on the night. They are available to pre-order through our P&F Hub until Sunday 26th October. No orders will be taken after this date. There will be an AMAZING RAFFLE happening with so many incredible prizes up for grabs. If you pre-purchase your raffle tickets on the P&F hub, we will have them ready for you on you on your table on the night so you wont have to line up for tickets. It will be a night to remember that will be packed full of laughs, drinks and your favourite 80’s/90’s tunes. We cant wait to see you there in your costumes!
