Welcome to Week 4!
Shrove Tuesday
Our Shrove Tuesday celebrations, also known as Pancake Tuesday, were a wonderful success! Students from Kindergarten to Year 6 enjoyed delicious pancakes prepared by our amazing P&F. A heartfelt thank you to all the parents who generously gave their time to make this event so special. Some of our students even made their own pancakes in class. Take a look at some of our youngest students doing this below:
Caritas Australia 2026 – Project Compassion
To care deeply for the needs of another person or creature is an expression of our love for them. This tender concern is called ‘compassion’. We show compassion each year, through our efforts to raise funds for Project Compassion. The money raised supports people around the globe and here at home in Australia, to live with dignity and to make a true difference for themselves and their families.
Families have received a Project Compassion box to support Caritas Australia this Lenten season and help support vulnerable people around the world, now and for all generations. With your support, Caritas Australia has been able to support vulnerable communities around the world to tackle poverty, food security, education, water and sanitation and disaster risk reduction. Project Compassion 2026 reminds us that the good that we do today will extend and impact the lives of generations to come to build better future for all. As St Pope John Paul II said, “The future starts today, not tomorrow.” Together, we can help vulnerable communities face their challenges today and build a better tomorrow for all future generations. Project Compassion boxes are due back at school before the end of Term One. To learn more about how you can ‘unite against poverty’ during Lent in 2026, please visit Project Compassion.
NAPLAN 2026
NAPLAN is a National Literacy and Numeracy assessment that students in Year 3, 5, 7 and 9 sit each year. NAPLAN Information for parents and caregivers went to students and parents/carers in Year 3 and 5 a few weeks ago. For more information about NAPLAN, please visit – https://nap.edu.au/
We encourage parents and caregivers to keep conversations about NAPLAN as relaxed and reassuring as possible to minimise any nervousness.
2026 Sacramental Commitment Masses
The Sacramental Commitment Masses for students preparing for the Sacraments of Reconciliation (Year Three), First Holy Communion (Year Four), and Confirmation (Year Six) will take place on the weekend of Saturday 14 March (6pm) and Sunday 15 March (10am) at Christ the King Church. During these Masses, children from Christ the King will join parishioners to publicly commit to preparing for their Sacraments in 2026. Sacramental Enrolment Forms will be available at the Parish over the weekend. If your child is enrolling in one of the above Sacraments this year, you must attend one of the Masses over this weekend. Please return all completed enrolment forms to your classroom teacher, as soon as possible. As the year progresses, the children will continue preparing for their Sacramental celebrations. Let us all keep them, their families and the staff guiding them in our prayers.
Absentees Reminder & School Attendance
A reminder that academic success and engagement are intricately linked with school attendance. We ask all parents and carers to set the expectation of daily attendance, establish good morning routines that ensure students arrive to school on time. Please ensure that any absence is communicated promptly to the school before 9am to ensure that your child is accounted for. Please do not to use Seesaw messenger to notify for attendance related communication and please do not wait for a message from the school. Absences can be reported to the school by:
• Phoning the school on: 9487 9900
• Logging the absence, via the school website
• Emailing; admin@ctk.wa.edu.au
Whilst holidays during school term is not encouraged, if you have planned absences of five days or more, an Extended Absence Form must be completed and approved by the Principal, prior to the absence. This form is available here:

Car Bay
Thank you to everyone who is correctly using the Early Childhood car park. A reminder that the front car park marked VIP HS is to be left free for the parent who purchased it at last year’s fundraiser. Thank you for your cooperation.
Illness
Several children have been absent recently due to illness. We kindly ask parents to ensure that if their child is unwell or showing any symptoms, they stay home until they are fully recovered. Illnesses can be contagious and may spread not only within the classroom but throughout the entire school. We encourage all parents and carers to be mindful of this and consider keeping their child home for an extra day if necessary to help prevent further transmission.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Parents and caregivers will have the opportunity to meet with their child’s teacher on Wednesday 1 April (Week 9) from 12.30pm. Parent Teacher interviews will be conducted across all year groups (K – 6) in ten-minute rotations. We respectfully ask that parents keep to the ten-minute limit, to ensure the afternoon runs smoothly and on time. Later in the term, you will receive instructions about booking in these meetings. Please note this date in your diary. Please be advised that our school will finish at 12pm on this day. If you cannot collect your child/ren at 12pm, they will be supervised at school, until 3pm by our staff.

A Message from our School Nurse – Ms Andrea Mangan

A Message from our P&F President – Michelle Van Der Stroom
Welcome to a new year at our school! I’m delighted to introduce myself as this year’s P&F Chair and look forward to working alongside our wonderful parent community, staff and students. The P&F exists to strengthen the connection between families and the school, support meaningful initiatives, and foster a strong, welcoming community for our children.
Term 1 has already been a wonderful start. We were thrilled to host Shrove Tuesday and our annual Evening on the Green. Thank you to all the families who joined us on Friday 20th February for a relaxed evening featuring a special appearance by Boogie Woogie, soulful tunes from the fabulous Tara Del Borello, face painting, food trucks, and even a roving magician! A heartfelt thank you to our incredible P&F volunteers who helped in the lead-up and on the night — we couldn’t do it without you. Throughout the year, we’ll be hosting a range of P&F events, supporting school initiatives, and planning exciting activities for our community.
We warmly encourage all parents and caregivers to get involved — whether by attending meetings, volunteering at events, or simply sharing ideas. To find out more, please visit the Hub:
