Welcome to Term 3!
Term 3 has begun wonderfully, and it is already shaping up to be another busy and exciting term. We have many events to look forward to over the coming weeks, including Book Week, the One Big Voice Concert, Catholic Performing Arts events, our Sports Carnival, Open Night, Father’s Day celebrations, and much more.
It has been fantastic to welcome our students back and see their smiling faces around the school. The positive energy, enthusiasm, and readiness to learn have been evident across our community. Seeing our children return so eager to engage in their learning has been a wonderful way to begin the term.
This week, we also celebrated NAIDOC Week as a school community. Students participated in a range of NAIDOC themed activity stations, as well as cultural dance performances and workshops. These experiences provided valuable opportunities for students to learn about and celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. A sincere thank you to our First Nations Team for their hard work in organising these meaningful activities. Your efforts are greatly appreciated and helped make the celebrations such a success.
NAPLAN Results
Last week, all Year 3 and Year 5 students received their 2026 NAPLAN results.
The NAPLAN report provides information about student achievement across four assessment areas:
- Reading
- Writing
- Conventions of Language (Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation)
- Numeracy
The report also shows how each student’s results compare with the national proficiency standards for their year level.
We encourage families to review the report together and celebrate their child’s achievements and progress. While NAPLAN provides valuable information through a national standardised assessment, it represents only one snapshot of a student’s learning at a particular point in time. NAPLAN results are most meaningful when considered alongside classroom assessments, teacher feedback, and the broader picture of each child’s learning journey and growth throughout the year.
A Huge Thank You to Our Volunteers
A heartfelt thank you to Mel Fiocco and her wonderful team of volunteers who generously gave their time to undertake a much needed clean up of our school hall.
We are incredibly grateful for your support and dedication. The willingness of our families to contribute their time and talents is a wonderful reflection of the strong community spirit that makes Christ the King such a special place.
Your efforts are greatly appreciated and serve as another reminder of the caring, supportive, and committed school community we are fortunate to have.
Uniforms
Last term, our updated School Uniform Policy was shared with all families. This policy was developed in partnership with parents, students, and staff to ensure it reflects the values and expectations of our school community. Following a three-year transition period, the updated uniform requirements came into full effect at the beginning of 2026.

Unwell students
We kindly ask that unwell students are kept at home. If a child becomes unwell during the school day or presents symptoms of illness, our staff and school nurse will contact parents to arrange for them to go home. Sending sick children to school can affect the health and wellbeing of other students, staff, and their families. We greatly appreciate your understanding and support in helping us maintain a healthy school environment. For further guidance on how long children should stay home when sick, please refer to the recommendations on the WA Health website: https://www.health.wa.gov.au
Learning Highway
This term, students will be exploring the ‘Learning Highway’ during Health lessons. We encourage parents to use these strategies as a guide for discussing learning experiences, challenges, and achievements with their children, helping them reflect on and celebrate their learning journey.
The classroom can have lots of challenges. These could be work challenges: it might be too hard, too easy, boring, something you’ve done before or something you’re just not interested in. There are also classmate challenges. There might be children who talk a lot, don’t listen to the teacher, behave rudely or distract others.

Hello Parents and Friends,
Have you seen the hall?? Our amazing team and volunteers have cleaned it all up and made it look amazing for our community!
One of the greatest gifts we can give our children is the opportunity to belong to a positive, connected and supportive community.
Our school is much more than a place where children come to learn. It is a place where friendships are formed, families support one another, and children watch the adults around them to learn what kindness, respect and community truly look like.
The P&F exists to help strengthen those connections. While we organise events and fundraising activities throughout the year, our purpose goes far beyond that. Every gathering, every conversation, every volunteer and every act of generosity contributes to creating a school community where everyone feels welcome and valued.
As parents and caregivers, we all bring different experiences, ideas and perspectives. We all share a common goal—to provide the very best environment for our children to learn, grow and thrive. When we choose respect, kindness and understanding, we model the values we hope our children will carry into the world.
A thriving school community isn’t built by a committee alone. It’s built by every family who chooses to be involved, to encourage others, to offer a helping hand, and to see themselves as part of something bigger than themselves.
As we continue through the year, I encourage each of us to reflect on the role we can play in making our school an even stronger community. Whether that’s volunteering at an event, attending a P&F meeting, supporting another family, or simply speaking positively about our school, every action helps shape the culture our children experience each day.
Thank you to every member of our school community who contributes, encourages and supports one another. Together, we can continue building a school where every child and every family feel proud to belong.
