Dear Parents, Caregivers and Community Members,

Loving God,

We remember the ANZACs. The courageous men and women who served our country in the past and those who continue to serve today. We thank You for their bravery, their friendship, and their hope, even in times of hardship.

Guide us to be people of peace at school and at home. Teach us kindness, to care for one another, and to be thankful for the peace we share.

We pray for all families affected by war, and for those who work to protect and keep our world safe. Help us to always remember the ANZACs and to live with the same spirit of courage and service.

We ask this prayer through Christ our Lord.

Last weekend, as a nation, we once again paused to honour the brave men and women who gave so much for the freedoms we enjoy in Australia today. We remember the ANZACs.

Last Friday, our students and staff gathered in the hall to pay our respects. I would like to acknowledge and thank everyone at CtK, as we continue to honour this important tradition. The Anzac Ceremony holds deep meaning for many in our school communities, and it’s something worth preserving. Thank you to Mrs Carroll, Mrs Barrett, Mr Dom and our wonderful Year 6 students for leading this service for all of us.

In the busyness of school life, it can sometimes feel like there are more urgent demands on our time. Yet moments like these invite us to pause, reflect and remember. Honouring our history is not just an act of remembrance, but one of learning and respect, because when we stay connected to the past, we help guide a more thoughtful and compassionate future.

In the world we live in today, it can be difficult to imagine a time when young men and women left Australia to face the realities of war overseas. As I walk through our school, I feel grateful that our children are growing up in a time of relative peace and safety, without the hardships faced by generations before them. Seeing them play freely and happily in a place that nurtures and protects them is something I do not take for granted.

For me, last weekend was a time for gratitude. I encourage you all to reflect on the many blessings in your lives, while also remembering in your thoughts and prayers those who came before us and served for Australia’s freedom.

Welcome Back to Term 2!

It has been a wonderful start to Term 2, and it’s been great to see our students return refreshed, settled, and ready for a productive term of learning. Classrooms have quickly come back to life with energy, curiosity and a strong sense of routine. Our students are engaging positively in their learning, and teachers are already seeing excellent focus and effort across all year levels. This term is always a busy and rewarding one, with many opportunities for growth, both academically and socially.

We would also like to warmly welcome the new families joining our CtK community this term. We hope you have felt welcomed and are settling in well.

As we move forward, we will be running School Tours, throughout the term. These tours provide an opportunity for prospective families to visit our school, see learning in action, and gain a sense of our community and the opportunities we offer our students. Please let prospective friends and families know.

Term Two Planning

This term, academic updates will include Term Overviews posted on Seesaw and a formal Mid-Year report. We have a variety of engaging learning experiences and events planned, including incursions, excursions, assemblies and carnivals. Students in Years 3, 4, and 6 will be receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation and First Communion (Eucharist), respectively.

School Procedures

This a gentle reminder that class begins for our students at the times listed below:

Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten:
Doors open at 8.28am and class begins at 8.40am

Pre-Primary to Year 6:
Doors open at 8.28am and class begins at 8.40am

For the safety and well-being of each individual child, no student should be on school grounds, unattended, before 8.10am (unless your child is participating in a co-curricular event). We have had several students who ride and get dropped to school arriving closer to 8am, and school supervision does not begin in the quadrangle until 8.10 am. We appreciate your support with this.

If your child arrives at school after 8.40am, please take your child to administration and sign in via the app on the iPad, before going to class. This is also required if a child is collected during the day and then returned to school. If a child needs to be collected before 3pm (or 2.45pm for Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten), please sign out via the app on the iPad, in the office. If a child will not be attending school on any day, please contact the school prior to 9am on the day of the absence, using one of the following methods listed below:

• Calling: 9487 9900 and leave a message on our absentee line
• Complete the quick link absentee form on our school website
• Emailing; admin@ctk.wa.edu.au

Please do not wait for a message to be sent to you from the school.

Extended Absence

Whilst holidays during school term is not encouraged, if you have planned absences of five days or more, an Extended Absence Form must be completed and approved by the Principal, prior to the absence. This form is available here:

Afternoon Pick-Up Times

We would like to remind families of the importance of collecting children promptly at the end of the school day. Over the past two weeks, we have had several students being picked up later than the scheduled dismissal time.

While we understand that unexpected delays can occasionally occur, we kindly ask that every effort is made to arrive on time. Our staff often have meetings, planning commitments, or appointments scheduled immediately after school, and timely pick-up helps ensure they can attend these. We do appreciate your support in this matter and your partnership in helping the school day conclude smoothly for both students and staff. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Communication Guidelines at CtK

Parents and carers play a vital role in their children’s education, and a strong partnership between home and school enhances their learning journey. Clear communication is key to keeping our community informed about what’s happening at school. If you need to discuss anything related to your child, please always contact your child’s class or specialist teacher first. Teachers will always contact relevant parents directly regarding any school matters.

Please remember that our teachers will not be responding to seesaw messages or emails after 4pm. Each teacher has set their “work hours” on seesaw to ensure consistency across the team. Unless it’s an urgent matter, please allow up to 48 hours for a response to emails and seesaw messages. Teachers are not expected to respond on weekends (Saturday or Sunday) or during school holidays. Part-time staff are not required to respond to any form of communication on their non-working days. It is important to note that we all have lives beyond school, and many of us are parents, family members and friends. Just like other professionals, we need time to focus on those roles outside of work hours without interruptions.

We are very fortunate to have such a supportive group of parents and carers at CtK, and I’m confident that you will continue to assist our staff by keeping these factors in mind when reaching out to them.

Kindergarten Enrolment 2027


It is that time of year when we call for Kindy enrolments for 2027. If you have a child who is due to attend Kindy next year, or you know someone who has a child that age, please encourage them to submit an application as soon as possible. Our Kindy program has proved to be extremely popular over the last few years, and it is advised that parents and carers submit an application sooner rather than later. If your child is in the three year old program, you do not need to submit another application. We will send you an intention to re-enrol form, later in the year.

Three Year Old Kindy 2027


I am pleased to share that once again in 2027, our school will be offering a Three Year Old Kindy Program for children who turn three in 2027. Pre-Kindy will run for 4 days in 2027. Please contact the school office for more information.

2026 CtK Cross Country Carnival (PP-6)

Our CtK Cross Country Carnival (PP–6) will take place at Christ the King School on Thursday, 14 May (Week 4), due to ongoing renovations at Dick Lawrence Oval. Further details will be provided soon by Ms McLinden and Miss King.

Thankyou

Thank you to our families for your continued support in helping us achieve a positive and settled start to the term. I am thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to step into the Acting Principal role this term. It has been a rewarding experience so far, and I am grateful for the chance to support our wonderful school community in this capacity. I sincerely appreciate the support, collaboration, and professionalism of our staff and community, which have made this transition both smooth and enjoyable.

• Our enrolments have grown by 26 students (7.5%) since February 2025? WOW!
